A couple buddies and I are planning a camping trip to one of the islands located in Lake Texoma. Before I do this I was wondering if y'all could help me out with a couple questions. Is it legal to camp on these islands? Will my Texas fishing liscense work for the entire lake? Any recommendations for camping or fishing these waters? I'll probably bring some stinkbait and shad to see what I can catch. My over all goal is to break the 121 pound catfish record banana

Thanks for any help in advance

Better leave the stink bait at home if you want to break any kind of blue cat record. But yes you can camp on the islands and you will need to get a Texoma Fishing Liscense ($12). I always camp on the far west island, wood island I believe is its name. Been catching lots of cats along sand bass pass and on the ledge on north island. Just a starting point to begin fishing. Break out a map and there is plenty of good fishing around the islands. Good luck

Catdaddy said it right. Island camping is fun. All the partiers should be gone now so you should be able to find some privacy. You will need a texoma license. You can buy them all around the lake and I believe in all the stores around Denison.

Take a cast net and catch your own bluecat bait. Bait fish are everywhere. Cut bait is probably the best bait going for blues right now.

I've heard numerous people catch them on lil smokies but I have yet to catch a fish on them.
