12 lb mono an a medium weight rod. Usually catching eaters at that depth and I like the fight on lighter tackle.

When in doubt, set the hook.

My favorite setup is 35 lb Cabelas Rip Cord yellow braid on my Mitchell 300 and 6'-6" med Berkley lightning rod shock series with a Thill slip cork, #4 or #6 treble. My second favorites are my garcia black max II with 14lb Cajun and Med 6'-6" ugly sticks with same slip cork/hooks. Both will handle the occasional big fish.
From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."
Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

I run the same set up as if I fishing normal (65lb power pro) but just tie about a 2 foot leader (50-80lb andy)under a big cork or ballon. This setup has saved my butt more than once in tournaments and trips. Great way to target active blues and flatheads in shallow water structure.
