Went to pat cleburne last night with no luck for about 3 hours. Around midnight we decided to head to the joe pool spillway since it's a little closer to home. When we got there around 1:15 , she was exhausted from being up all day and asked if she could stay in the car. If you've been there, you probably agree that it isn't the safest spot . She ended up coming down and throwing a line out about 4 foot deep on a slip cork . Not even 10 minutes later as I'm still catching shad, I hear "babe I have a problem". I ran around the spillway and her pole was doubled over peeling through the drag . This is her first fish bigger than a bluegill also. She fought and fought and finally brought it in. We thought it was a gar at first cause of how long it looked. Got it up next to the wall and we shined the light down and it was a flathead bigger than anything id ever caught or seen personally . She said "and I was going to stay in the car". Well ..... Good old me ruined the day cause the knot that I had tied, somehow slid undone and this monster was gone . I wish I knew how big it was. Easily 20 pounds though. I asked her if she understands why I fish every spare minute now. That's how she got herself hooked. She didn't want to leave after that. Now I'm being requested to take her night fishing again tonight.
