What's your favorite reel to tackle those bruiser Blues and Big ol Yellers? Mine are Abu 6500-10000.

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

I suppose the ABU 6500. I use them for cats and stripers. I have a Penn Fathom as well, it is not the reel that a 6500 pro rocket is by any means. I have some 7000's and a 9000, but I never use them.

I have an abu 650+, basically a 6500c3, that has a turboFred rebuild in it. It's the smoothest 6500 you will ever throw, even better than my brand new c3.

Loved my old Mitchell 300 that got stolen a few years back.
I replaced it with a Mitchell 308 rod and reel combo spooled with 12# braid.
I've caught eater cats to 12# with the rig. Super sensitive and cast a mile (no backlash) into the wind with a split shot.
I've got ABU's and ugly stiks, but the little Mitchell is my go to reel 95% of the time!

Just one more cast!

I got two new abu 6500c3 a little while ago and they have been awesome. Much better than the old reels I had been using.

Mostly Abu 6500's but i also have a Daiwa Millionaire 6h that was bought around 1979 that works as well now as it did then. Without a doubt the most well built reel i have ever owned!
