Hey guys I've been watching the corps of engineers site and see them releasing water. I used to do well fishing texoma when they were generating so I've been thinking about trying the same tactic at either grapevine or Lew. I've got a few questions that google maps can't tell me smile

At grapevine can you drive up to the parking near the gates or do you park farther north near the spillway and walk it? I'm guessing access from golf course is not allowed. I know access at Lew. is fairly straightforward but I'm unclear about grapevine parking.

Also, is it open 24/7 or will they run you off? I do 99% of my catfishing after the kids go to bed since its easier on momma.

Lastly, anyone have any hints before I head out? Any holes or cuts where fish might hold up at either lake?

I'm going to try an swing by tomorrow during work for some pregame scouting but I was hoping I could find a little guidance from someone who's cat fished these spots smile

Thanks for the help!

Sorry. Forgot to mention I'm gonna be targeting larger blues and channels mainly. Plan on using cut shad since its been working pretty good the last few weeks.

Hope that helps!

Emailed someone down at the grapevine field office today. He promptly replied and let me know that fishing there is off limits due to security reasons? Anyways I guess thats a no go. Could have swore I'd met a few people that have fished there before though. Oh well.

They allowed it many yrs ago but I haven't tried in a long time. Lewisville was always good during releases. A long time ago you could drive all the way to the water release and there were dirt trails you could ride even further downstream. But, then they closed that off too because of folks leaving trash and "other stuff" taking place down there and I assume police didn't want to have to patrol it. After that, we had to park and leave our vehicles unattended at a locked gate at least a 1/2 mile from the water release and walk or bike, unless that changed too.

I've been down the lever from grapvine it is treacherous and probably not worth the walk... I went to the spillway on joe pool lake and was walking on some rocks and I got attacked by wasps. My next adventure I wanna try the spillway at lake arlington....
