So, this next weekend I am going to be going to Hubbard creek Thursday evening, and then driving to Dallas Friday mining to buy a new kayak, and then fish Hubbard creek the rest of the weekend. I have no idea where to catch bait around Hubbard creek, but I know I could catch a ton of big shad Thursday morning before I go to school. If I kept them on ice all day Thursday and into the weekend, would they still be fresh enough to catch cats on? Or would I be better off just buying chicken breast and using dead red through the weekend.

I always catch them under a bridge early in the morning at a local pond.

Also, where could I find some shad right now in a lake? Shallow banks, lighted docks, boat ramps? Early or late?

Put them in gallon bags to keep the water off of them, keep them iced down and they should be fine.

Awesome! Thanks for the tip, didn't think about keeping them in bags.
