Hard Core (Major League Fishing format) is pretty cool getting to count every fish you catch.

We decide to split Fork into 3 sections. From the left side of the spillway up Big Caney is 1. From the right side of the spillway including Little Caney up to the 515 west bridge is 2, From the the north side of the 515 bridge including Birch is 3. So on Nov 4th when we get to the registration our senior most co-angler in attendance will draw which section we will be fishing in for that 8 hour day.

The first ten members to catch 8 lbs will call it in to someone we designate that is not fishing and they will qualify for the finals on Dec 2nd. Which will be held in one of the two remaining lake sections.

Today's fish were caught on cranks, jigs, top waters, frogs,c-rigs, t-rigs, drop shot and weightless flukes for the most part. Is there anything left. Oh yeah the winner caught some on a home made swim bait too.

On the boater side
First place Brian Dick of Alba with 21.20 on 5 fish with the 9.03 lunker. Which ties the Hard Core lunker of the year.
Second place went to Mark Talley of Quitman with 13 bass for 13.85 and a 1.52 lunker.
Third place boater is Bob Roberta of Long View with 10 bass for 11.99 and a 4.93 lunker.

On the Co-angler side:

First place went to Gene Shoemaker of Quitman with 6 bass for 11.89 and a 4.25 lunker..
Second place went to Charlie Abresch of Hawkins with 9 bass for 10.12 and a 1.35 lunker.
Third place went to Jerry Krone of Hawkins with 7 bass for 5.29 with the 1.19 lunker.

One more member qualified for the semi-finals is John Shinn from Van bringing the total to 20.The next tournament will be the semi-final.

For info in fishing this tournament and others put on by the Lake Fork Anglers contact me at sjbasser@aol.com or PM me on here. We have openings for both boaters and co-anglers right now. This is a club that fishes only on Thursday daytime. We do not hold open tournaments. But dues is $5 a year.

All of our tournaments are priced for seniors as follows. $10 entry 100% payback, $1 for club and $1 for the Top 6 team* So Total entry of $12. Optional lunker pool 100% payback of $5. Optional 100% payback side pot for $10 per person.

In addition to this format that we call "Hard Core" we also fish our regular every other Thursday tournament all at Lake Fork on a draw style fishing. All of our tournament "paper" the bass and slot fish count.

If you are as "Hard Core" as some of us you can fish every Thursday like we do. And some Fridays too. And then Opens on the weekend.

Hey we are seniors and we are supposed to be doing something to keep us healthy and our minds sharp and get some vitamin D. LOL At least that is what you need to tell your wife.

yes it is more about fun for most, but even though some are mores serious is it still about learning and sharing techniques, baits and places.

it is amazing to me when we first started how many zeros there were over and over. As of late there are very few.
Could be the time of the year, but I think more about the learning and of course fishing more makes everyone better.

Actually casting at what you want to hit instead of putting it in a bush or up a tree.

Learning to drive safely around lake Fork.
