I'm pretty excited to get started painting baits. Do yall have any tips while I'm waiting for the stuff to get here?

thin paint properly, get ready to mess some up, even after painting a couple thousand baits it still happens to me. Also get ready to get addicted!
looking forward to seeing what you paint post some pics when you get rolling.

Watch lots and lots of YouTube videos. Don't leave out the airbrush artist that do portraits, etc. you will learn a ton from those.

Use nothing but acrylic, use low air pressure, remove the brush tip for fine detail stuff, thin paint stops "cobwebbing"....literally hundreds of tips.... Practise, practise, practise and try new things...... Here's One I Prepared Earlier

Use an airbrush with a .4 or .5 tip to begin with. Thin your paint with the right stuff for the paint series...too thin is better than too thick. Use lower air pressures 25-30 lbs. Figure out what "distancing" means. Begin with basic 3-4 color patterns. If you goof up a few times don't let it throw you into endless vortices of despair. Endeavour to persevere.

endeavor to persevere...quote from the outlaw josey wales. i like it! just to piggyback on bois's post. if you don't like the results you get just use a paper towel and some denatured alcohol to wipe off the offensive paint. works like a charm.
