this stuff is tricky. not so much the foil but the type adhesive is critical.
this is a trap i did this morning. haven't added any color yet, just the foil on the blank. i'm gettin' there!

Funny I was trying to order that same bait with holographic foil today, no luck on that though. Looks like your getting it down, I guess cutting the adhesive is working out well.

yeah that seems to be the key. still working on getting the adhesive formula right. i'd like to be able to holograph any blank i wanted so not limited by whats out there.

I have yet to find an adhesive that I like. I have done a couple that turned out decent by cutting around the gill plate, but it sure was a pain in the neck. I haven't had one look anywhere near that good yet. Strong work!

thanks txmed! im using an adhesive called "best glue ever". couldnt find it anywhere around here so i ordered it. about $10 for a 2oz bottle. the key is cutting it with denatured alcohol to get it thin enough to spread without leaving ridges that show up through the holographic foil...or any other foil for that matter. still working on the right mix. the first several i did were a complete disaster but they're getting better.
i've tried just about every adhesive out there. "best glue ever" is by far the best!

have you tried 3M 777 adhesive spray glue this is a very good glue I do about 300-400 foiled cranks a year and it hasn't failed yet.

That's the first glue I tried, but it was hard to get a thin enough coat on the bait for the nail foil. That's what I use when I put aluminum foil on blanks.

More power to you guys, I have tried numerous times with only one good bait to show for it. I think I'm done trying foil. I'll just buy blanks already foiled for 15 cents more. Although there are a few I would love to buy foiled. That might be changing in a few weeks though I have some new bodies coming with holographic foil.

post a couple pics of your foiled baits. id love to see your finishes with the spray. i tried it but couldnt get it right. maybe i should have given it a little longer try. my biggest problem with the spray was controlling where the stuff went. i tended to get it everywhere and ended up with a sticky mess. the brush on glue gives me a lot more control of where the foil is going to be.

Not sure how your gonna improve on this foil finish??? Looks perfect to me....made me say, Daym!, when I saw it.
