For fishing with slabs and such type lures...looks like I'll be pulling my boat to Richland chamber's the third weekend in January...would like to fish for sandbass and hybrids...never been on the lake or fished for hybrids...I've been looking at maps trying to get prepared...any advice or info would be greatly appreciated...I live right here at the Sabine river and would be willing to trade some info on the famous sandbass run we have over here.. Pm me if you'd like....thanks.

The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

Decent White Bass bite going on now on Main Lake Humps and Points. It's not deadsticking, but close to it. Lots of small Hybrids mixed in, but the big fish are still not around. Lost most of them thru the Spillway last two years, but have a decent crop coming up and 18" fish should be showing up in March/April.

Be careful on RC as a NW Wind over 15 mph will turn it into the Gulf of Mexico! You may want to consider Catfish as they are EASY all Winter. Check out the posts in the Freshwater and Catfish sections for trips the past two days.

Check us out at www.gonefishin.biz and give us a call if we can be of service. Been on RC since 1994 and full time Guides since 2000.

Good Luck!

Larry is right. I've only made the trip 3 or 4 times. I only caught fish once. Those guys know the lake and will shorten the time it takes for you to put fish in the boat.
You'll get several different answers about line type, diameter, size of weight, hooks, colors, etc.
I would say line size bigger than 12 lb. and smaller than 30 lb.
Weight according to wind.
Someone else will need to advise on slab size and colors.
Rods medium to fast tip medium rod.
Crappie and snoopy rods and reels not advisable.
Bites will be a tap like little crappie bites.
After hookset is when you find out if sandbass or hybrid. grin
