My dad has been working his tail off and he finally gets to go fishing with me for the first time this year at PK. He loves knocking a dent in the sandbass population. He goes nuts!

I was fishing out 4 weeks ago and they were pinning shad up against the steep cliffs over by YMCA Grady Spruce. If I'm a betting man they are tracking them to more shallow water and have moved close to South D&D.

Anyone seen those delicious suckers?

I see fish hitting the surface early and late at PK. I usually don't chase topwater. Kinda like playing keep away. By the time I get to where they are hitting, they are now hitting where I came from.

Best fishing I have done has been at night around green lights. Catching mostly under 20 inch stripers with most of them throwbacks and an occasional LM bass. I have not seen any sand bass on the lower end of the lake in a while. If I were you, I would call Randy Wood or one of those other guides and see if they would give you a tip on where sandies might be. Sure worth a try.

PK is fishing tough right now. There's more bait than even last year. Every cove and creek is chock full of shad. I got skunked with live shad fishing on top of a huge school of stripers. Hard to believe you cant get stripers to bite but they are sitting in a fog of bait.

Good luck to you.

Your right the bait is insane out there everywhere I go there are tons of clouds but I never see anything chasing them. They must have spilled over the dam noidea Im gonna try South of the sandy beach area first!

If you go up far enough in the creeks you'll see big schools of LM Bass chansing shad. Unless the stripers quickly come back PK is going to beat one hell of a LM Bass lake. We are over run with them.

That's the truth, we catch the trashy little green bastages by accident all the time. The Stripers seem to be MIA, or at least to me they are, I haven't marked a good school of them in the last few trips.

That's hilarious! Two weeks ago we saw the water boiling so I through a spoon into them and slammed nothing but lmb. They really are schooling hard!

The Striper bite is early and short. Family Style had 5 stripers on almost simultaneously Sunday morning.
Broadway and the peanut patch seemed to produce best this weekend.
I did not see much surface activity this weekend. Sand bass were caught on slabs with a fly tied above.

There is lots of bait. It's hard to catch them when there full!

I caught a few nice sandbass and a good size striper last night off green lights. Other than that, fishing is tough. All fish I caught including a bunch of undersize stripers looked like someone had stuffed a balloon in their gut. If you catch fish at PK it's a reaction strike. They are not hungry. They still will eat though just like us fat boys who go after another piece of pumpkin pie on thanksgiving even though we are stuffed.
