The wife wants to start fishing and catch fish. So I thought sand bass would be easier to get her hooked rather than the green trash fish(lol). However, i haven't fished for sandies in several years(15+). We've been to the Vine with a little success, but she wants to go to other area lakes and catch a boat load. Not really wanting to go with a guide, which lakes and areas are great right now. We have thought about Lewisville as an alternative. Thanks for any help and assistance in advance.

Lucky you. My wive makes me promise NOT to fish if she goes in the boat.

Lavon is doing well! Maybe alittle out of the way but could be rewarding with less traffic

Go to Fork. You can catch "green trash" fish and the Mrs can catch "white trash" fish. Win win situation roflmao

First you need to convince your wife it is called "fishing" not catching. The trip and the hunt for fish is an experience. There is no where you can go and just start catching fish. If you just want to catch any kind of fish go to Ben Brook and tie on a chartreuse slab. Find fish stacked up and catch yellow bass. EM south of the island will be better in September. PK is good, but hard to fish if you don't know where to go. Texoma is good for sand bass and an occasional striper , just follow the guides around. Be sure to learn the difference between sand bass, stripers, and Hybrids. It is expensive to get caught with a striper or hybrid that is less than 18" long. Good luck.

I would definitely take her on a guided trip to a lake that is producing numbers of fish to see of she really likes it, it would be an investment well spent. Or lesson well learned.

I will add go with another couple she knows and likes to be around, consider an afternoon trip over an early AM, 1-2 of these will tell you if she likes it or not, you will be the 1st to know.

Many benefits from a 1st time good trip. I will add tell the guide exactly what you are trying to do, numbers over size for the 1st trip, point blank ask what's your feelings on making this happen?

The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

I agree a guide is well worth it to get in a lot fish she can turn into your best fishing partner the only down side being you have to have to buy twice the tackle.

My wife and I are headed to Lake Fork to fish with a couple that we first fished with in 1971, I would say that fishing has been good for the four of us, we get together about twice a year to fish or hunt. They live in Kansas while we have lived all over the world now making our home in Sanger because of Ray Roberts

Thanks for all the input. It is greatly appreciated. Bronco71, I'm fishing out of a Skeeter 300ZX, not sure I want anything bigger. We will be on PK the weekend after Labor Day, and then going to Texoma for her birthday middle of Oct. We are discussing hiring a guide for Texoma, but not sure how all that works. I think we will be staying at Little Mineral Resort. Again, thanks for all the input.

Just be careful she might just get addicted. I couldn't get mine to hunt or fish now she's so addicted that if I want to come in she wants to stay out longer. cheers
