I'm going to try Livingston tomorrow because I'm tired of fighting the pleasure craft on Conroe. I have never fished it from a boat before. Main target will be stripers. Should I just fish below the dam or fish the main lake. I have no desire to keep any fish unless it's a trophy or if one gets hooked bad. Any advise for this lake would be appreciated. I'll probably be on the lake at sunrise.

If you intend to target stripers, then go below the dam and join the crowd. There aren't many keeper size stripers in the main lake du to all the flooding, but below the dam they are plentiful. Take your top water arsenal.

So all of the stripers got the hell outta dodge .... Lol. I guess I will launch at dam in am and fish for stripers for a bit then check out the main lake for whites and hybrids. That way I can learn the lake a little. I got a cooler full of gaterades and lots of sammachies. Should be fun.

Can you fish very successful off the bank?

And why would I do that? I have a perfectly good 21 foot center console.

Maybe because in your first post you said you had never fished it from a boat before?

Below the dam...yes, you can do very well, but it can be treacherous so be careful.
