I normally fish for black bass but I had a great time on Richard Chambers Tuesday and Wednesday catching good size Whites and Hybirds. They were mixed in with each other in 6 feet of water on a green striped rattle trap. Tue. the action lasted for almost 2 hours and went back to the same spot Wed. am and only got Whites and the size was smaller but sill enjoy them. I did not kept any just enjoyed the bite and fight. I tell you the spot but I don't know the lake by I could just make out the spill way of the dam to my north and right and there was Willow trees sticking out of the water.

Yes I got a map and that what it said. I am going back there in a few weeks. My friend has a place off 416 but he will be out of town for two weeks working. I will be doing some black bass fishing also the next time. He does a lot of jug fishing. From what I seen I think I will be fishing R C more.
Any tips will helpfull.

Fishing was very bad on RC over the weekend. The big Hybrid still haven't shown. Sand Bass were good around Pelican Isle but not much anywhere else. Lots of short fish. Several guides did good on live bait. I caught several on Slabs, Mepps, and Jigs. Catfishing was bad. Couldn't locate any shad. Maybe its all the fresh water, temp and Barometric changes, but Chambers fished bad for 4 days. Switched to Black Bass on Monday and caught about 50 12"-14" fish in the tires on 309 flats.

Nobody is catching any big hybrids. I think they have all gone down the trinity at this point. We caught a few 18" hybrids late last week and that's the largest I've seen all year. We had the same issues catching bait. If you try after daylight you are pretty much screwed. Come daylight the bait is scattered at best. I'm done fishing RC for a while. Some hot weather and high pressure should push the bigger hybrids to their typical deep water humps, assuming there are any left that is. Looks like starting next week we are going to get in a more typical summer pattern.

Funny thing is, other than Tawakoni, there does not seem to be any big hybrids being caught anywhere in any numbers. The Cedar Creek reports I have heard seem to be lots of 17-18" hybrids with very little if any "big fish". The metro mess lakes seem similar. It's just another odd year. I'm sure these wet years will really do wonders for the white bass population on RC, but they have literally destroyed the hybrid fishing.

agreed. all the big hybrids got sucked down the trinity - Livingston should have a great hybrid bite this year

Saturday i threw i cast net 40+ times trying to catch shad and only managed about 20 good size and threw back probably 20-30 8" monster shad.

Sunday went out at 5am and finally found bait. caught 8 keeper hybrids-18.25 -20" and a couple dozen big sand bass.

need some consistent weather to get these fish back where they should be.

We're strictly "artificial lure" guides and can't speak to the issue of finding shad. I do know that the White Bass population is not only on the way back but we also have some of the Big Un's being caught in with the 10"-12" fish. We took a day off on Memorial Day Monday but on Tuesday we had a three boat Party of ten fishermen and had a 250 limit of nice Sandies in a little over 2 hours. Yesterday, I had a foursome and we managed 90 Keepers before the rain literally ran us off the lake after about an hour and a half. Even better news than the easy limits of Sandies is the fact that the "live bait" guys are telling me the BIG Hybrids are making an appearance in the past three or four days. Quite a few caught on shad off the Flats. banana

I wouldn't write off RC too quickly as this has been happening for the past three years and every time RC has proved the naysayers wrong. If you're on the lake once every week or so, your chances are a lot lower than the folks out there six days a week. We're catching them in some of the non-traditional spots and have had to look more & longer than the past few years.

Good Luck and Good Catchin'!
