Met Robert Sunday afternoon at Possum Hollow on PK. He has fished here before but first time for me. The room was small but clean and did have a kitchenette but nothing to cook with or eat on. The restaurant was very nice, good service and good food. I would stay there again. Robert brought his boat and got a nice slip and very reasonable. Plan was to go with a guide Monday then use Robert's boat the rest of the time. We launched the boat and headed out. First stop we got one small and one real nice sandie on a slab. We tried several other spots but the wind got up and limited where we could fish. Finally ended up back about 100 yds from the slip and found some moving through but we had to call them in with the thumper.
Monday morning we woke up to lightning and thunder but it stayed North and East of us. My bro in law Tim drove in from Arlington and said it rained on him pretty good until he got North of Mineral wells. Guide Randy Wood picked the three of us up around 7:30 and we headed out for some striper. He eased into the strike zone with his trolling motor and set up the first pole. He almost got the next pole ready before the first one bent over, fish on , first big striper in the boat. It was pretty hectic for a while keeping Randy very busy setting poles out and unhooking snags then it slowed down and so did the wind, it was glassy. We caught some real nice big fat stripers. Randy showed us some places to check while we were fishing on our own then tried to find us some sandbass to slab up but they just would not cooperate. It was hot and absolutely no wind so we went in. Tim went home with a big bag of fillets. If you need a good guide on PK give Randy a call.
We went out in the late afternoon and the wind had come back big time. It changed directions several times. We ended up slabbing up sandbass back at our honey hole 100 yds from the dock.
We had told Randy that we wanted to try topwater in the morning and he gave us some very good advice. Look for shallow water rocks and sandy areas. We left Possum Hollow right at sunup and went straight across to the first rocky shallow area and immediately started catching sandies, LMB and one striper on top water. Worked that area for a long time then went over to state park and got some more. Went back to the first place and got more. They seemed to like the medium sized popr the best. This lasted until about 10:00. Ended the day at our honey hole by the doc still catching. The weather had changed a lot and we decided to cut our trip short. First trip to PK hope I can get back soon.

Tim and Randy

Nice write up and pics. Randy is a hard working guide. I'd recommend him to anyone. I've enjoyed my trips with him.

Sorry for the delay in posting. I tried posting from the marina but it would not go through.I am glad the fish turned back on for you guys. I hope to see you all again soon.

FSGS and Armco Protection are keeping me very busy these days. The fishing is great at PK these days.
