I haven't spent a whole lot of time on Joe Pool, been a few years since I was there, but headed there tomorrow, have three kids on board, one has never caught a fish. Looking for a little direction, was thinking of heading up one of the creeks for some sandies. In a 16' v bow so can go main lake or shallow. Any help would be appreciated, any PM's will be kept confidential. Your reward? I'll post some pics for you to enjoy!
Thanks in advance.

I launched at Britton park today and went into that creek. Found a few good crappie and a couple real good sandies. Find some good brush or grass and throw some minnows at em. You'll get bit! Shallow was better

I would say minnows for sure being the best bait for a kid to get a first fish. I hope you go very early when the fish are most active. Hook the minnow from the bottom lip up through the nostrils and it'll stay alive for much longer, until something hits it. I prefer #6 cricket hooks because they are smaller and longer stems. If anything bites it, very hard to spit back out and razor sharp. Lots of guys catching near the banks where it is flooded over the edges with vegatation. Like 3rdGEN said, very shallow, no weight, just minnow 1-2 ft below small bobber. They run, you yank! Good luck and happy fishing with your kids!

Theres a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot. Steven Wright

Main lake points are producing easy limits right now. Keep checking till you find them. Also keep an eye out on the seagulls. They have been working over active fish late in the afternoons.

Yep. Main lake points make for easy fishing for a kid. Mark fish on graph, bounce slab off the bottom, reel in fish

thanks for all the replies. Wind was a bit strong yesterday, whitecaps by the time we got there. Decided to skip out and do some hiking instead. Will try again soon.
