Looking for some good sand bass fishing in the Houston area. Not asking for GPS coordinates, just a friendly "over yonder" and I'll do the rest. Thanks!

Somerville is about the closest to Htown you're going to get for a good sandy population that you should be safe keeping and eating. Most of the ones around Houston (Livingston, Houston, etc) are going to have too high of Mercury and other contaminant levels to risk eating. Unless you just want to catch and release.

The creeks on the north end of Lake Houston or Lake Conroe have some decent runs, although it's been pretty slow so far this year. Nothing compared to Somerville though.

Somerville is probably your best bet for consistency plus you can catch other fish. There is a good thread running in the Bank Fishing section. There is a small run in this part of town but it is just about all posted up now.
