I've been fishing the Red below Texoma quite a bit this fall. Most days are pretty good so I thought I'd share a few pictures here.
11-24
This was the biggest striper I
never caught.. I spotted this biggen kinda wallering on the surface as I was headed back upstream to the truck. She was about 20 yards off my left side and just about hit her in the head with my cocahoe. Felt weird, but on, so I cranked her in (actually pulled me to her). My jig was hung on one of several lines tangled in a big topwater she had stuck in her mouth. Managed to get her in, untangle her, and take her picture before sending her on her way. Took a little effort to revive her but she swam off with an attitude. I'd love to see her again with my hook in her mouth next time!
These two were about 32" and 30.5" respectively, just a couple inches off my PB. Caught before the release within about 5 minutes of each other on a glow cocahoe.
Usually get a few in this range most trips.
11/7
This one was about 33-1/2", so just a half inch off my PB. It came within about 5 minutes of launching and was the only striper I caught that day, as I recall. I did catch some smallie and lmb though. All on the short side.
10/31
This was an awful day except for about 30 minutes. I couldn't buy a bite on a lure so I broke out the net and managed to catch a very few shad. I was drifting them live and caught a pair of brothers from another mother. A 31" striper came first and it was pissed about having that hook in it's mouth. I usually wear a glove on my left hand since it's what I use to control the fish while I get a picture. I've been bit plenty of times by big cats, but this was the first time by a striper. I didn't have my glove that day and this fish tore my hand UP! After that, a 31" blue took the bait and gave me another thrill ride in the yak.
I fish down there a lot with Roger B and appreciate getting intel from John Blasingame from time to time.. I'm about ready to get back on the lake now that the fish are beginning to act normal!
