lake is now only about 3 feet over full and they have all gates open and falling 6" per day..for whole bunch of reasons I cannot understand why they wouldn't want to hold on to some..reminds me of someone that never saves and then wonders why he's broke all the time...with no rain in sight and people starting to water lawns and golf courses and years of drought I'd like to see them close the gates...if you want to register complaint call them as I did

Not defending it but all these lakes have down stream commitments they have to honor. I'm sure the Trinity River Authority regulates how much water Lavon has to release and how much water they can keep above conservation pool. I agree though. Doesn't make much sense. All this water going down the trinity is headed straight to the Gulf. Just another example of how screwed up water policy is in this country.

considering how full it is now, I wouldn't have any concerns over the water level until at least late next summer I bet lol... plus I'm sure they want them all at reasonable levels for when more rain does come. We do live in flood plains, and those are there to prevent major flood conditions as well... in either case, I'm certain someone with much more knowledge than either of us is responsible for making that call.

Think like this. If there was no regulation NTWD could build a 1000 ft tall reservoir and tell other users downstream to pound sand if they didn't want to release water and could charge as much as they wanted.

It takes lots of coordination to keep all parties happy and prices low. Remember lots of lakes are not only for water supply but flood control.

The city of Dallas owns any water above Lavon Pool. Lavon is strictly a flood control lake and they held the water back to keep from flooding all of the lands below the dam. The city of Dallas has all regulation from the hwy 78 south. I was told this by a game warden AND a police officer They told me i was trespassing if i walked 0ne inch south of why 78

Yup, I believe they're legally obligated to release water above full. Seems stupid to me but good luck getting any bureaucrats to change the laws.

Hit Lavon Sunday morning from sun up till about noon. Went to most of the usual spots for the white bass and I just could not get on top of a big school. At about nine in the morning I gave up on the whites and we decided to hit the black bass. About 20 minutes into it with no bite I came up to a point, and my screen blacked out with white bass and yellows. We sat in one spot for about an hour and a half and whacked 14 1/2 inch Sandbass an 8 to 9 inch yellow bass. We were throwing 5/8th ounce chartreuse slabs with a thump buddy white and chartreuse jig 18 inches above it.I did notice half of our fish we were catching, were hybrid white bass. Hybrid white bass or a cross between a white bass and a yellow bass. The hybrid whites are a lot more yellow than your typical white bass. They almost look like they're stained yellow. Last I checked they had 12 gates open creating a massive undertow displacing most fish. They're just not doing what they're supposed to be doing at the current moment. Once the lake drops back to pool and they Close some more gates up the, patterns will start to appear. We caught a couple Crappie but nothing to brag about. Until the gates closed I will not target them.

Then I suggest you go ask a COE officer or contact the NTMWD, because that is simply not true. The trespassing part is, but not the water rights.

Lavon is flood control lake first and foremost. Anything above pool must be released when downstream conditions permit.
