I've been hearing that they are across the state park up in those sloughs. But, the water is super muddy right now.

Yup, very very muddy the further north you go. Just went last weekend and stayed at a park around mid-lake. Water was literally like reddish chocolate milk and not fishable. Try to stay and fish as close to dam as possible, water was much clearer down there.

I laugh at how, when we went to PK, it looked like my lake. The fish there must not breath mud well as ours at Lake Fort Phantom.

Here is some good advice. If you plan to fish the dam stay somewhere closer than the state park. Its a long ride on the lake and even a longer trailing around to that area to fish. The weekends are heavy wake times near the Dam except early in am. Sunday by 11 the traffic starts to clear out. A friend of mine with a dock and lights said the night fishing was slamming for whites near the dam and you will catch a few Stripers mixed in on minnows. Good luck.

Best bet is to forget the lake and fish below the dam. On the way out I stopped and caught a bunch of sandies in the middle of the day below the dam. I got a hit on almost every cast and was using a big chartreuse wild eye for stripers. Guys next to me with smaller baits were sacking up the sand bass that I could not hook with that big bait. I understand the fishing is stellar early and very late when the big stripers come shallow out of the highly oxygenated water by the dam.

Last week I got a stringer full of stripers in the 18-20 inch range there by wading and casting out as far as I could to the foam.

Good luck to you.

I fished some green lights at night this past week and it was not as good as usual. The light circle is much smaller in the muddy water and fish struggle to see the bait. They still come after the ghost minnows and shad that are attracted to the light but it's nothing like it is when the water is clear.

Governors cove has lots of schools of bait fish in it right now. It I was going to set up a green light after dark that's where I'd put it.
