I was wrong. Took my boy out fishing today off the bank in my spot to catch some catfish. Caught a small White bass on a worm as soon as it hit the water so I threw out the net to catch some shad and I got some real nice ones. Put some nice ones on my hooks and casted out and caught a 22 inch Hybrid in quick order. 5 minutes later the cove next to me erupted. Shad where flying everywhere getting thrown 10 feet into the air just to get smashed when it hit the water again. Of course this was all about 30 yards out of casting range. I caught a few undersized hybrids 10-14 inches where I was catfishing and even a tiny striper about 14 inches which was exciting. I kept watching the cove blow up over and over again and they finally worked their way over to me. I ended up with two big sandbass another two 22 inch hybrids and a TON of 16-17 inch hybrids. Had my three year old with me and at one point I had a double hook up so he had to get one pole. He couldn't reel it in and was doing everything he could to just hold the rod with out getting drug in the water. It was exciting to say the least and these are my first hybrids fishing tawakoni. I completely forgot about the catfish I was originally targeting. They were seriously blowing up in the cove on and off for 2 hours. This all happened around 11-1 today.

Nice Fish. I'm glad you had your son with you. It is never too early to get them fishing. Were you by the dam or the state park?

I was on the south east portion of the lake up a creek arm. Part of a private camping thing over there and it has some nice shoreline for fishing.
