I am new to fishing off a boat, I recently purchased my old boat from a family friend for a good price and would like to hit some hybrids on some of the local lakes. From what I've read online the best places near me are benbrook and lewisville for hybrids and whites. I've been going when I can for the past month but the rain has been killing me. I have a 16.6 aluminum V with a 50hp set up with two downriggers and a mark 4 hdi sonar/GPS fishfinder with downscan. In my past 3 trips I have only caught 3 whites, all with live shad. I've yet to catch a hybrid. I've tried crankbaits, live shad, jigs, spoons and Slabs. I was really hoping to get some tips on where these guys like to hide! I usually get out on the water at around 6:30am and leave around 12-2. I am new to this and any advice would help!! The girlfriend is getting tired of these unsuccessful fishing trips lol. Thanks in advance guys!

Lewisville has hybrids but I would imagine that they are going to be pretty hard to catch right now with the lake so high. if I were you I would try Tawakoni personally.

I will definitely be planning a trip to tawakoni. Just the usual fishing the points and drop offs looking for schooling shad? I heard it was decent at lewisville, ray Hubbard and benbrook. They are much closer but it looks like the 2 hour drive to tawakoni may be worth it

I vote for Tawakoni as well. Ray Hubbard is good too, but hybrids are not as big as Tawakoni hybrids. Look for birds working and that is where the hybrids will be at most of the time.

Twok for sure. Most Hubbard hybrids are still growing up.

My buddy was having excellent luck at benbrook a couple weeks ago trolling the humps. down by the damn. I saw pictures of a few over 7 pounds.

Yea, I was down by the dam too. I probably should have ventured south on the lake a little more and hit More humps. I wasn't sure how good the fishing would be considering the lake had gone up a few feet is less than a week. I might try benbrook again after the rain breaks

Tawakoni is supposed to be the best Hybrid lake around. I don't like to drive that far. I think I saw you at Ben Brook Monday. Last Friday my grandson and I liked 1 fish limiting on Hybrids and released several small fish on shad. Monday we caught 1 crappie in the same spots. That is Ben Brook, fish one day and scales for several days. Personnaly I would not fish Tawok in a small boat. Also watch for the trees. Good luck. My son-in-law guides on Ben Brook now that Texoma is all but shut down. He knows where the fish are, but God only knows when you can catch them. PM me and I will give you his number if you want.

It was probably me you saw, I was on benbrook Monday from about 11-6. If I keep getting nothing I may just have to take a guided trip just to learn
