Well, the title says it all - went out to Lavon for the second trip of the year, and this is the only thing I caught:
It was a beautiful morning on the water, nice and cool. No boats when I showed up, started picking up about 9am though.
I just couldn't mark any active groups of fish. I found some scattered in 22-26FOW at various points around the lake, but couldn't get a bite. Fished deep, points, shallow hollows, humps, rocks, but just didn't see much activity. I also forgot my marine radio, so couldn't tell if anyone else was having luck.
I also noticed what looked kind of like fuzz on my electronics around the 30' mark. Has anybody else seen this? I forgot to download a picture from my 'bird, but I only see it on 2d sonar, and it looks almost like vegetation. It is everywhere I saw the lake deeper than ~33', and it starts about 30'. Wondering if it is a thermocline or something like that?
Water temps were around 65 degrees everywhere I noticed.
On a positive note, I did confirm that my trolling motor is working correctly. I had installed a Powerdrive V2 control board and foot pedal into it (it is an older Powerdrive V1 model). Why you might ask? Now I can save up some money and put an iPilot on it
- $100 control board for the mod is a hell of a lot cheaper than a brand new TM.
I'll do a write-up sometime and post it in the general equipment thread when I get a chance if anybody is interested.
