Happy New Year!!
Wife got me the Hummingbird Helix 5 depth finder for my 40th in November!
Anybody else have one? If so, how do you like it?
A buddy and me are going to try and install it tomorrow and maybe sneak out onto Lewisville to chase some sandies/hybrids if the wind isn't too bad. Anyone having any luck out there?
Cheers!

I just got two helix 7s, 1 di and 1 si. Haven't been out to use them yet as I'm gonna trade in the transducers. Watched lots of videos on YouTube, finally settled on the helix

Gravel pit is always a good place to start. The cut is pretty consistent. Last time out a week ago the lake served me a BIG OLE piece of humble pie. Last good trip was Ray Bob 3 weeks ago. Tried Texoma twice and Lewisville once since and lets just say I'm learning to fish again... Miss those "catching" days!

didn't make it on the water yet as we decided to install the old depth finder on the bow and trolling motor, and then powerwashed the boat. Now we are thinking (stupidly) that we might try to sneak out onto lake Texoma and brave the freezing cold temps. Forcast said 5 mph winds, so at least there is that. I haven't taken my boat on Texoma yet, mostly because it scares me a little. But, I've been on Twok and Lew plenty, and I guess if the weather is right and we watch it closely we'll be okay.

You can take a small boat anywhere if the weather is right and you use common sense.
Good luck!

went out today on Twok, cold as hell, had to wait for the ramp to unfreeze.... but got on the water earlier than expected due to a nice gentlemen named Keith (I think that was his name) who used his 4 x 4 to back my boat down and then helped me jump my dead boat battery....
a little windy, a bit choppy.... new depth finder works great... no fish... but it was nice to get out.
is 30's and low 40's too cold for hybrids and stipers on Twok? Didn't even get a bite!
