First let me start to say I have trouble catching shad. I get a few here and there but struggle when using my electronics and then throwing. I usually look for water disturbances and throw there which works. Where are some areas on Lewisville to get shad where they regularly hang out? I will be out early before dawn so I plan to go to a marina and look for lights on the water but what marina on lewisville or boat ramp has a good amount of light with a good deal of shad circling? Where do you have luck netting some shad?

I've often had good results around the tire barriers by Tower Bay.

Cut had shad early in the morning last Sunday caught enough bait in one throw. Also caught a small sandy, a baby crappie and a big blue gill. All on the same throw.

Try to old dam cut. Catching shad is usually pretty easy this time of year.

The old dam cut, or just West of there, hold shad all day long. Watch for the birds, even if sitting on the water (they are waiting for the schools to surface), will show you the way. Lots of larger gizzards shad in the open water, and I would prefer the smaller shad for sandbass/Hybrids. Normally catch these closer to shore.
