I'm trying to mix it up a bit so I bought the the Texoma special Ron Rig awhile back and have only used it a handful of times. My issue is trying to get it at the right depth. What is General rule of thumb with these things? I'm using a 6' Heavy rod, 50lb braid. I troll around 3-4 mph most of the time. If i wanted the depth to be say 15-20ft what size weight and how much line should be out? I guess I could find the target depth and let it hit the bottom then move to the fishing spot but Id really not want to risk hanging this big bad boy up. Any tips?

When I run 1 oz heads, I use the 5 oz weight and 60' of line and I use 65lb PP. That gets me to 23' or so. I found a sandy clean bottom and figured it out bouncing it off bottom. When you do catch a fish on it, be very careful getting it off the hook, it is easy to have 3-4 books in your hands when the fish flops around. They are good rigs when the situation is right to use them. I really don't like trolling, but sometimes it makes the difference between catching fish and not. I don't have much time in using it yet, but it has produced for me.
