Went to grapevine yesterday morning and couldn't seem to find any sandbass piled up. Wife and son came out at 11:30 and brought lunch. Ate, then idled around and found the sandies at the mouth of the cove by Scott's Landing (aka, sandbass point). 26-30 ft was best, a couple of schoolies but mostly slabs on the bottom or suspended 15-20 down. Had them to ourselves really. Did have 1 boat think it was okay to troll within 1/2 a cast of us repeatedly. Then the kid in the back decided all the fish were under our boat so he even cast his plus within 4 ft of my boat.. sigh... They gave up an moved on, we kept catching. We stayed for about 45 min to 1 hr. Probably caught 50+, lost a couple, tossed some back that were smaller (but were still legal). Ended up keeping 32, all 12"-16" long. Was pretty muggy out so my son wanted to go swimming and the wife cool her toes so we idled off to another spot for that. Off the lake about 1:15. I will say that although I have caught fish there in the past, I hate fishing that area. We had several sailboats leave the marina, kill the engines then set sail with no sense of direction before leaving the cove. IF I had not been on the trolling motor, high 24, we would have been run over by 2 or 3 of them. Idiots
