Sorry missed last Thursday's report our client canceled due to the rain.

Moved around quite a bit today and ended up with some decent stripers ( 4 at 4-6 lb eaters) a nice grouping of white bass and some great tasting crappie. Not bad for 3-4 hours. Did lose a big blue 30# plus as it wrapped around all our lines and had us retying all our rigs.

All fish were caught between 25-30 ft of water with live bait. We were also slabbing and caught a few whites with the slab. Tried the 70 bridge and caught a few whites there but loaded up on the crappie unexpectedly (not complaining). East Burns Run caught on for the whites and a nice smallmouth ( 4 lbs). Most people seemed to be striking out for the most part but did see some nice fish being brought in. Fish are scattered and it's "right time right place" kinda deal it seems.

I did notice the whites this year are huge. Most were about 14-15 in and fat.

Glad to see that lake is recovering...

Seems to be a shadow of its former self, but if the gill net surveys are correct help is on the way from strong recruitment.

We used to fish Texoma 20-25 years ago every weekend and all vacation.
I noticed the shad I'm catching these days are easily twice the size as back then.
I'm thinking the striper population is so down that is is allowing the avg. shad to live longer.
The present conditions are forcing me to look for different spots and I started using more artificials.
My electronics now are way better than what I had, but I been seeing some jignormous bait balls out there. I'm thinking with that much bait, the population and size should explode, but maybe a spawn or two away. You'll be hearing from me.

I think you are right. I also believe with the mild winters the threadfin shad populations are higher than usual. So if you account for more water on the lake, losing some of the population to the flood, and an over abundance of bait fish; there is no wonder why fishing is a little tough. Luckily a lake like Texoma should rebound quickly.
