My wife and I made a quick trip to PK this morning. We didn't get there till about 10 and stayed till about 12:30. The fishing was great. On the clear end of the lake, (south side) go in any of the deeper coves, or creeks, and the small stripers and sandies are stacked up in the very backs. Right at the edge of the brush, or willows. and work your way out. We used small rattle traps and cast masters. Nearly every cast, they even schooled in one cove across from hells gate. We kept 15 for a fry, thru the rest back. 60% were undersized, and none of the stripers were legal size. The north end is the muddiest I have ever seen it.

Was planning on taking the kids up tomorrow after baseball is over. Can't get here before 12 or 1.
Had planned on going to the north side and fishing stubble field or peanut field ( heard it called several names ) and hit Costello island.

We've NEVER fished the lake at all !! Hoping for anything to bite but would be thrilled with sand bass lol.

Any word up there ? Or is it to muddy and should I regroup and pick a ramp on the south side ? If so what's your suggestion ?

The peanut patch is much too muddy,(my opinion). I would launch on south side and try that. Straight across from hells gate, there are several coves, just go to the back of any of them and start casting any sand bass lure and start catching. I was fishing the north side of Costello island the last month and absolutely killing the stripers and sandies, but it mudddddy now.

Costello and North are orange. Fishing would be terrible I assume. I went a week ago. You would have to drop it in their mouth to get a bite.

If you are going to fish PK, go to the south end or go below the dam. Kastmasters are the ticket right now.

Caught five nice stripers there Saturday morning and you are right, go to the south side.
what is the deal with scenic point boat ramp. BRA has closed it. Are we upsetting the rich folk again?

I was super bummed. Left the house at 5 this morning to go fish. Get to Scenic and it was closed. My boat is too small to put in at south D&D and cruise to the dam in this kind of wind. Two hours drive wasted. Went and fished below the dam for 30 minutes and went home.

I just called BRA and they said that ramp would re-open in about two weeks. They are improving the roads in there.

Try the ramp by the harbor grill. I used it last sat. and it was fine, a bit slippery and watch the dock cable anchor.

We went back up this morning, and launched at south d&d. It is not muddy, but dingy for sure. Last Friday we caught way over 80 sandies and stripers, this morning they had lock jaw. We might have caught 25. Just look for the birds, they will tell you where the fish are feeding.
