Has anyone been to the park recently? I was wondering how the water levels are looking, we are thinking about trying to book our cabin again in March if their is potential this year. We didn't go last year due to no water of course. Thanks

Kris my wife and I made the 70 mile round trip down to CBSP Wed. afternoon late. River looks great but still 6 1/2 or 7' below full level. Ramp is open and in good shape. Few tents but certainly not crowded on a Wednesday. Saw two couples fishing south of the ramp along the bank but they looked to be catfishing. Got there at 5pm and the office closed at 4:30 so I didn't get to talk to any Park Rangers. I was hoping to ask if the ramp had been extended when the lake was so low and if anyone was catching any whites. On a very positive note the road is in great shape. It looks to have been paved pretty recent inside the park the entire distance to the river. Sure gave me the bug to get back. laugh

I would think it would still be a little early for the whites to start running but it won't be long.

I drove down last Sunday. The ranger said there were only a few small males in the river. Fishing is very slow. He was hopeful that things would pick up at the end of February. The lake has been low for a long time and I suspect the white population is lower than previous years. I won't make the trip this year unless something dramatic changes.

I usually go to buchanan and catch the big stripers and leave the little whites alone. I am the striper king on buchanan, i've caught more big stripers there than all the guides put together. I challenged that one guide Brandon to a contest but he dont want no part of the Striper King.

Hey Kris, I remember us chatting years ago back when Bend state park had water. It's great that the water is back and I think it will be a great spawn this year and very pumped. I have a few weekends already booked for some camping and yakking, starting in two weeks for a early recon white bass fishin trip!
Hey KG, I also did a quick drive down a few weeks ago and water up, the drive in camp sites now have cover over the tables and yeah, very cool with the paved road now going from beginning of park all the way down to the campsites!
Hey Snowy, don't get your point. This thread is about white bass fishing in the most beautiful part of Central Texas, at scenic CBSP, and not about how great you are catching strikers at Buchanan. just my thoughts.

Just booked reservations for spring break for some camping with the wife and monkey.

I could take a boat with a longtail but also have kayaks. Do I need a boat to get up to the whitebass?
