Is there anywhere in the Central or North Texas areas with a white bass run that can be accessed via wading? I have a kayak, but my father doesn't, and so we need to think creatively to find a likely place to find running whites.

Where do you put in? North of Pat Cleburne or around Blum?

Colorado Bend if you're close to it

We're about as far away from Colorado Bend as the Nolan River. We're actually in Odessa, but because of that, don't mind a drive.

Oh wow. I'm from Lubbock going to school here but I drove down to the Bend last weekend to fish with my dad. We went in the morning and caught our 50 in about two hours, cleaned em and then went back in just to catch and release. Planning on makin the drive again this weekend.

Do you fish upstream or down from the park?

I ran away from West Texas quite a few years back to go to school in Austin, and recently moved back to open my own law practice out here, but as you know, spend a lot of my time making the drive to find some water to fish in.

As soon as you pull in to the park we just parked down to the left and walked to the river. Made a few casts and caught some instantly, so we fished there all morning. Of the 50 we cleaned we had 9 females. This Saturday I imagine we'll trail upstream a little bit, of course after trying by the campsites again.

Nolan at Rock creek. Park, walk to river and start hitting deeper pools working upstream

Where is Rock Creek on the Nolan? I can't find it on Google Maps.

Rock creek is just outside of Blum on FM 933. If you look on Google Earth, follow FM 933 south out of Blum until you find Rock Creek branching East off of the Nolan. It goes under 933. When you're driving you'll come up on a long bridge. Park alongside that bridge and follow the trails down to the river.
