Anyone know if they have sandbass in White Rock , I seem to remember catching them under the spillway when I was a kid but have not heard about them since all the changes .

most definitely sandies in WR. Maybe not as many as there once was, but they are most definitely there. They used to be in numbers that they would surface on the lake in the summer, but recently, have not heard of them doing so, nor have i seen them doing it as i used to. They still run up wrc and dixon branch, but in recent years, in depleted numbers compared to the past. The best place to catch them on the lake used to be by the old artificial tire reef off Winfrey Point. In early summer they used to surface there like clockwork, and were within reach of bank casters. The run up the creek used to go all the way to Greenville Avenue, and I believe that Carey Thorn posted some videos a few yrs back of him KILLING THEM by flyfishing for them. I used rooster tails and roadrunners and used to limit out regularly during the spawns in the same area. Magnum sandies!
There has GOT to be some sandies left. Back in late October or early November, there was a mini run of undersized sandies up in the bend area of wrc, but it was short lived.

The lake supports Yellow Bass, also. I was crappie fishing WRC about 20 years ago and could not keep the Yellow Bass away from the crappie jig.

I've seen the yellow bass , folks were catching them like crazy this past cold snap when they were trying to get crappie . I remember as a kid I used to fish off that small island down under the spillway and would catch sandbass like crazy , my dad would wrap them in foil and we would have a cook out right there at the lake . Miss those days! Thanks for the info guys I knew I wasn't totally crazy!

Hey Todd saw your video , has anyone ever considered stocking WhiteRock to bring those fish back? I am not aware of any private stockings on White Rock Lake. I am aware of only three sportsmens groups in Texas who stock their local lakes with hybrid striped bass and thats including RHSA. The others are LTSA (Twok) and either Buchanan or BeltonI know the third lake starts with a B lol. Funny story one year I called the fish farm folks to inquire about stocking our lake. Told them RHSA are currently raising funds and will buy from them when we raise enough. So a few short months later in July, my family was on vacation, I was sitting on the Mega bus going from DC to NYC. I got a call from the fish farm saying hey, Todd, your fingerlings are ready for delivery tomorrow. I said thanks Mike, butyou got the wrong Todd? Found out another Todd from lake B made the purchase order. I should have said YES! Anyways, if the WRSA guys can get Mark Cuban on board, they will catch those drag ripping hibbies year round!

I've had better luck up WRC than Dixon Branch. Just walked the bank north from the Mockingbird bridge.
