Spent an amazing week vacationing in Destin. Started out with an out of this world charter fishing trip for my son, brother and friends. After that, it was time with the family and some clueless surf fishing for the rest of the week. On the last day, I was able to get some me time for some party boat fishing. We boarded and started to head out on the Vera Marie of Pelican Adventures. With dad going out with us, I was thankful that the captain decided to return to dock because of the high seas. It was rough! I am always appreciative of business that put safety before profit. Remember Pelican Adventures if you do go...
And wouldn't you know, on the very light night, I walked passed this sand bar about 150 yards from where we were staying and the fish were going crazy feeding! So my son and I tossed Moe's slabs across them and guess what? Those fish love them as much as the white basses here! Those lady fish were angry. It was fight to the death for them. They would thrash and fly in the air trying to get the hook off them. We caught fish almost every cast but would bring in fish that were gut hooked. I also noted that my braided line would snap frequently early on when we hooked fish. So loosen the drag and gave it rod back to my son. It wasn't long after that when he brought in the catch of the day! We had a blast. Too bad it was our last night there.
There was just a little day light left when we got home so I grabbed the kids and we check the same spot that was producing. Same Bat time and channel they were there. Since they say a picture is worth a thousand words. The following is my monologue.
