Howdy all

Just went to Academy to see if I could procure me some striper-pattern Heddon Hell-benders. Unfortunately all I got was a smirk and giggle from the guy behind the counter and didn't even find the silver or white variations. I have a couple of the big white ones left, but I have had better luck with the smaller, striper pattern and wanted to replace the ones I've lost at the bottom of Twok.

Do you guys leave a hook on your actual Hellbender? I do, but the only time I've ever caught anything on the Hell Bender itself is one time when a big hybrid was fooled on the striper pattern at Tawakoni.

Since I was unable to land any Hell-benders, I decided to try out the 20 foot diving version of the Lure Jenson Jet Diver. Has anyone here ever used one with any success? Have you had any success in trolling anything other than the pet spoon? How about trolling an umbrella rig behind one?

Happy Friday and Happy fishin'

Don't know where you live but the Gander Mountain on 820 in Fort Worth had some HB about a month ago.
I have tried the diving disk and can't figure out how to make them work.

I take all hooks off my deep diving crankbaits to prevent losing them on bottom.

Yep we remove the hooks from the diver. With thermocline set in, best to run about 14 feet or so

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

I get my hellbenders from here:
http://www.lurenet.com/heddon-hellbender-magnum-downrigger

They have every color available including the striper model and I can't find them at any local place where I live.

I was down to one hell pet on my last trip out so rigged up a second rod with diver with a 1/8 oz spoon and caught fish with that rig two to one over the hell pet
Pretty cool
I going to start experimenting different small lures behind the diver and see what else works

Fish a lot, catch a little

DD-22 hooks on with a spoon or grub tied to a 3 way swivel 2-3 feet above the DD 22. Catch 2 hybrids at a time on Cedar Creek. Line weight will determine the depth you get... Always use 17-20lb mono for this setup myselff

Thanks bujesus. I think they may be a $1.00 cheaper on the Heddon website.

I'm going to try running one 10 foot and one 20 foot diver with the two wire umbrella rig with a small sassy on one and Lures Pet Spoon on the other. That's four baits out at once. I think two at a time is doable.

I may have to order some of those DD-22's as well. Hooking two baits in two places above the plug sounds good.

wish I could get out today or tomorrow! ugh....

Get mine all the time on the Academy website. They also have the holographic pet spoons that have become my favorites.
