Caught this hybrid last night, among others. This one was really short for the girth he had, built more like a crappie but fought like a hybrid.

I'm thinking by the time it makes 18" it'll be a freaking toad.

Somewhere there is a hybrid that is hanging it's head in shame and a male crappie with a big grin on it's face.

It's called a Crapper

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

Yellow bass hybrid for sure. I caupught one a few years ago. Not sure if it was a mess up from the hatchery or one of those rare crosses from the "functionaly sterile" hybrids in the lake. Cool pic.

That is how the sandbass are shaped on lake Fork. That fish and the lake Fork fish do look deformed but they sure are fun to catch.

This fish in the pic was about 14" long, and I swore I had a good 3-5lb hybrid on the line. With the large surface area on the tail, he sure could run when he turned sideways to me. I was shocked when I got him to the boat and realized he was so short after he fought so hard.

Being under 18", and knowing he wasn't a sand bass, he did get released to fight another day. But I stand by my earlier comment, if that fish gets to be 18-20", he will put up a hell of a fight!

What is the biggest of these hybrids anyone has seen? Has me curious how big they get now.
