The menu includes fried bluegill fillets, Justin Wilson's hushpuppy recipe, onion rings and fried potatoes, all washed down with Lipton's iced tea.

The cat treats are for my 3 cats, who feel they should share. The 2 dogs split a hushpuppy accidentally dropped on the floor.

I fillet them with a Rapala electric knife and trim out the rib cage with a fillet knife. Then I coat them with mustard and shake them in a plastic bag with corn meal or Zitarain's Cajun mix. I cook them in Canola oil in an electric deep fryer.

Thanks for the reply. I saw a post of yours awhile back about using mustard and have been using it ever since. Dip all my fish in mustard. food

Wow, that looks crazy good. I have not pulled the boat out of the garage yet to go chasing those Calaveras slabs. Anyone know any good bank spots, to pull in some eating size sunfish?

Faust Street Bridge in New Braunfels is a pretty good spot to catch some good eating size sunfish/Bluegill. This time of year swimmers usually take it over but there are some spots down from there that you can try. Also up FM 281 you can hit the Blanco State Park. Lots of eating size sunnies there. thumb

Side Note: I have caught some nice Bluegill from the bank while fishing Cally. The cove between the two boat ramps sometimes holds some nice ones. cheers

Thank you banker, always look forward to your input. Do you know anything closer in San Antonio? I went to a park over at 151 and 410 area. I think the pond belonged to an apt complex or something, but the manager let me fish one time. I think the fish were decent size, but too long ago to remember well. Anyone been there recently? Looking for more of a pond type place. Got the little ones for the summer, and boat/entry fees to the lakes will get crazy high.
