... tried Gulp Alive maggots? I recall your saying that when fish are active and you use an artificial, you use Gulp Alive Noghtcrawlers and Berkeley Trout Worms. So, I am wondering if you tested the maggots and, if so, if they were not as effective as the worms?
Thanks.

Never used the Gulp Alive Maggots but know anglers who have. They have gotten good results using them. I have gotten super results using the Gulp Alive Night Crawlers and the Berkley Trout Worms in the natural color. Live WORMS have always worked the BEST for me. This is a resent catch on the Gulp Alive Night Crawlers.

Oh my goodness. Was that caught on ultralight rod with cricket hook? Yes Sir. Shakespeare 5' Ugly Stick Combo with a size six cricket hook. Side Note: I would also love to know if any other angler out there has used any of the Gulp Alive Products and what kind of results you have gotten. Also what kind of fish you have caught using Gulp Alive Products.

The Gulp alive Waxies/Asticots will catch anything. Best bait out there to include live night crawlers for kiddos to catch fish. IMO! Also have used The Gulp alive night crawlers, I spray about 3 squirts of night crawler spray in the bottle also.

They work well. Caught sunfish and catfish on them. Probably would work for icefishing/carp fishing.

Banker, I looked at the Gulp Alive Nightcrawler picture online and see that it is a 6-inch worm. For your cricket hook, how much of it do you pinch/cut off to use? That is, do you cut the worm into two pieces, or three pieces?
P.S. I see that also come in one-inch pinched. Is that what you use?

That is, do you cut the worm into two pieces, or three pieces? There are two sizes in the Gulp Alive Worms. They have a thick size and a thin size. I like the thin size better but have used the thicker ones also. I always cut the worms in pieces. I thread the worm completely all the way up to the end of the shaft. I usually leave about two inches over the exposed hook! Works like a champ. Great bouncing them off the bottom and off of ledges. You can also pull them through grass beds and they stay on your hook a lot better than live worms.

Thanks Banker. I will see if I can find both kind and figure out which ones are the thin one. Appreciate your reply.

If you want the "best" sunfish bait on earth IMHO, then just order some REAL maggots. I get mine from speedyworm.com. $11 a thousand. Worth every cent. They last in the refrigerator for many weeks. They go into a dormant state at around 34-36F and will not pupate. Take them out of the fridge and they start wiggling in a couple of minutes. You just take what you need for the day and leave the rest in the fridge. Put 3 or 4 of them on a #6 wire hook. I usually get 2 or 3 fish before I have to rebait. Maggots are quite durable on the hook. They are very "clean" to use, much more so than earth worms. I start getting an uneasy feeling when my maggot supply gets low. https://youtu.be/j4pDPQTxTv0

Appreciate this information doctorxring. I normally use live bait when I start fishing in earnest for sunfish later in the summer. This time of year, I am still bass fishing, but I always take a UL rod and some kind of artificial bait in case the bass are not cooperating. I use nightcrawlers and super worms, but have never used maggots. Sounds like I should give them a shot.
