Fished the last time for the year at the Nueces Canyon. I fished both the Nueces River and Lake Nueces! The bite was fair and it seems that the shallow water fish have moved closer to the blue holes and running springs. I managed a few nice bass in the one to two pound range,a bunch of nice adult Longear staged at the end of a nice river flow,a couple of nice Bluegill and a couple of nice Redbreast rounded out the catch. All fish with the exception of the Longear, were staged close to the deeper pockets of water by grass and weed beds. Worms with ultralight tackle was used and all fish were released to fight again. Can't wait till Spring 2018. The Canyon and Sabinal Valley could really use some nice RAIN! Closing out 2017 at the Nueces Canyon. It just don't get any better! fish

Very scenic! The picture looks like a spot that is a popular swimming hole in the summer.
Clearest water I have ever seen in Texas and that includes Medina, Frio and Guadalupe Rivers.
Thanks for posting.

Thanks Doc, Fish2Chill 1, and Andrew for the replies. cheers Doc: The Nueces Canyon is a GREAT fishing adventure. I plan on fishing it a lot in the upcoming years. hooked Fish2Chill 1: There is a nice deep blue hole about 200 yards up river with a nice cliff where the Camp Wood locals swim! thumb

Great pictures and post Chuck. You have fished that place a lot over the past several years. Now I know I why since I have fished there this past spring. Love being in the middle of no where with plenty of crystal clear water and great scenery. Like you say! "It just don't get any better"! woot

Side Note: Have you ever fished the Blue Holes during the winter months? noidea
