Laker, they use setups like this all the time in saltwater. In fact this is a saltwater method down sized for freshwater. They way you fight a big fish on a handline is let the fish run never hold a death grip on the line. It's surprisingly easy to gain ground because you're reeling about three feet per pull, and you have two arms. Gloves are a must as well. Tuna on a handline: Gitter, thx
