Took a little trip out to Double Lake Recreation with my lovely wife. Small lake, not really known for the fishing, and since the drought, the lake is full of small bream. It was warm, but had the small dock to ourselves in the evening. I used my 5 wt with a small top water spider and I actually tied on a small streamer on my wife's fishing pole that she dangled over the dock. She's never been much on fishing, but this short little excursion was really fun. Other than the small pond by my home, which she won't visit due to the nature of the walk and location (not developed). I was hoping some of you may lend me some advice on good bream lakes. Fish Somerville quite a bit, and found a few next to the damn lakeside, but the rocks make the trip tough and I can say with complete certainty that she would like a nice shoreline or something nice to fish off. Any help would be appreciated. Not asking for your special locations, just need advice. It would be nice to take her somewhere with a little better size bream than the monsters she and I were catching.....LOL....

She'll probably kill me for posting her picture.....LOL!!!

DoctorLiver, I love Buescher State Park for bream fishing. Raven is also a smaller lake with excellent bream fishing.

Almost all the lakes in this area are great for bream. Fayette, Bastrop, Conroe are all great but I usually use the kayak on them. PM me if you need some additional information on Lake Somerville or the other lakes in this area. I love fly fishing for bream with my fly rod as well. I fished Overlook Marina with the fly rod and popper this morning.

Wolf Creek Park is right up the road. Try that. We used to camp there and enjoyed it. Bulkhead bank fishing there.

Many thanks for the advice Jmoe! I've actually been to Buescher State Park but did not fish the lake. Fished the docks at lake Bastrop with my wife one hot July evening looking for bream, but caught a nice 2 lb bass on a small jig. My oldest goes to Sam, so Raven is always a good excuse to hit the water and pay a visit. Beautiful park too. Had the kiddos out there in the RV when they were younger. No fish though....they were a bit disappointed. Most of my fishing is done off the yak, but I'm never opposed to any bank fishing. Anyway you slice it, being outside and fishing is better than sitting at work. I'll PM you on lake Somerville. Thank you for your help in advance. I'm quite familiar with the lake, and I'm pretty certain we may have crossed paths at some point on the lake or the Yegua during the fall months.
