Can panfish be caught above New Braunfels in the slower deeper troughs.

Thanks Banker! Always enjoy your post here as a long time lurker. Staying at the Lazy L & L and sure would like a dinner of gills.

I know right where you are at! This time of year the Sunfish in that part of the river will be hard to find. hide2 I know they had stocked a lot of trout in the Guadalupe over the last two months. Try Hyco Springs or the Trail Race. Should be some trout left. thumb

When the water starting getting a little warmer so will the panfish bite in the Guad! For me the warmer the weather the better the bite in the river for panfish, especially in the mornings!

Totally agree. I start catching the Sunfish on that area of the Guadalupe in Mid April all the way through late October. Some of those deeper holes hold some very nice fish.

You can also judge the sunfish bite by the amount of water being let out of Canyon. Last year the sunfish and Crappie bite was slow throughout the year due to the amount of water being let out of Canyon. Not only was the water colder the current was extremely fast also.

The larger slower moving troughs are where I normally catch big Redbreasts up there. Especially if you fish over or adjacent to a weedbed.
