For lures I love the Bluegill Fire Tiger by Rebel. I also love using Rooster Tails (Red/white). For fly rod I love the the Big Yellow May Dun flies and the Badger Hackle Peacock flies. Size 10.

Beetle Spins if it's kinda brushy. Mepps if the waters free of obstructions, though i just bought about thirty single-hook mepps that may be more snag-free. i used to get the smallest i could find but last season i moved up to 1/8th size for everything to keep the dinks from hitting. plus my favorite pond has mainly breen Green sunfish which have larger mouths and can take larger lures.

Being up here in CO, our Spring dynamics and variables are a bit different since they have an ice cap on ponds and lakes for at least 2-3 months out of the year. You have to learn about bluegill and other panfish movement during the period called "late ice" and "ice out". They move a lot more than I would have thought and it's more complicated than I would have thought. If it's we've had some successive warm days around ice out, I will start with a Rapala Floating Minnow F03. Depending on how they are reacting to the plug, I either fish it as is or customize it with a suspending dot by the belly treble. If it's average or cool around ice out, I like to go with a jig/plastic combo. Tubes with internal jigheads seem to be some of the best options, but I also like solid body tubes, tiny craws, tiny versions of the Ned Rig and tiny Ikas for bigger sunfish or mud flats.

You know what's probably the most over looked but super consistent Spring time lure that I will try to fish a lot more this year? The marabou jig.

I love using spinner baits during the spring. Buzz baits are super good.
