Have submersible lights, but after every 3-4 trips, the bulbs pop. Growing tired of this.
Without spending too much, what kind of light should I get?

My dad used to unplug his trailer before backing the boat in. Seemed to do the trick. Have you tried that?

Next time you back in look for bubbles coming up from the lights. If so you have a leak that allows the water to displace the air that supposed to keep them water proof. Unhooking the lights is the best.

Some of the supposed "submersible lights" are not really that. The oval shaped units where you have to replace the whole thing have worked for me. b
If I'm not fishing or hunting I'm hunting a place to fish or hunt.

In 30 years of owning the same trailer I have only had one of the submersible lights leak.

Ours were submersible and we always unplugged them. owned the boat from 1993 to this year and probably never replaced more than 2-3 bulbs. Unplug them.

I had the same problem, until I followed these guide lines.
A- Replace your bulbs for led lights. More expensive but last longer and less prone to burning out. B- Clean the edges around your lights where the two pieces come together and silicon the [censored] out of it. I even took the screws out put some silicon on the threads installed the screws and siliconed around the heads of the screws. Use alot of silicon and try to wipe it smooth. I never unhook my lights as the ramp I go to isnt at risk for water touching the plug. Your setup may very so unplug to be sure. This should solve your problems.
If that doesnt work then you have an exposed wire somewhere on your trailer and its shorting out.

I had the same problem, took some GOOP marine sealant ad stuck it around anywhere water could get in and it solved the problem. The other option is like mentioned above, put the money into some LEDs and problem gone.

Boat trailer used to do that so I just swapped them out the whole housing for LED's. no problem since. Pontoon trailer started doing it so I switched them out this past weekend. Have never had any problems from any of the side marker lights

I'm convinced trailer lights are not supposed to work all the time. Sounds like you have cool water hitting hot glass though. Silicone is your friend.

I agree with everything above. But if you don't want to go LED buy the LL bulbs (long life). They have a more durable filament. Water proof the housing, go with LL bulbs, use dielectric grease on the bulb bases, and if you remember unplug them so they can cool before you back in.
