 Help! 2005 Fx4 f-150 won't go in reverse

My 2005 f-150 with 86,000 miles on it just started doing this, it will go in to drive fine, but when I put it in neutral or reverse it won't go anywhere. In reverse it acts like the back tires want to go, but the front tires are locked in place. I dragged the front tires earlier getting it out of my driveway, left a nice skid mark. i hope it's not the transmission, it just acts like the front tires do not want to go in reverse.

Since it is the fronts locking up have you tried engaging 4wd? Sounds like a transfer case or front diff problem and not the transmission.

When you dragged the fronts, once you were backed out and pointed in the right direction, did they go forward OK?

The truck will drive forward fine, it's a little noisy, but it will go in to drive.

Took it to a transmission shop as I expected the diff was out. Looks like a bolt came loose somewhere in the differential and was causing it to lock up.
