Just announced. Interesting on what the torque and mpg will be.

Every year they seem to delay it, for the last 2 years it was coming out, now it's 2018. Things going to cost $70k freaking dollars anyways.

I do wonder how much they're going to cost. My Ram ED cost $34k. I can't see an F-150 with the 3.0 diesel running under $40k plus TT&L even with discounts. If they can make the price competitive with their gassers, it will be great. If not, the ecoboom will still be the cheaper option for most folks, especially if gas stays under $3 a gallon.

hopefully its not a pos like the 6.0 when they moved to "THE NEXT GREAT MOTOR"
i would love to have a half ton diesel that is reliable, gets the mpg it should, and has the torque to pull my 21i

Sure wish they up the displacement a little for more torque. There has to be a compromise between 3.0l and 6.7l that can still get decent economy.

Will be interesting to see. The 3.0 makes plenty torque it is a touch low on HP though. With a little tuning they can make the 3.0 a much peppier motor as well... cant make it the best it can ever be the first year, you gotta have cheap bumps to add for later years.

Ram makes one it will tow your boat easily.

A 2.0L mercedes diesel would tow a bass boat but imo they are targeting an existing market niche. Why not one-up it?

They one upped the hell out of any other 1/2 ton pickup out there. It will do whatever you aught to be doing with a full size 1/2 ton and gets high 20's mpg empty.

Sure I would like a few more hp out of mine, but I wouldn't give up any of the economy in exchange for it. GDE has a tune for the ecodiesel that changes injection parameters and several other things. Most users see a 2-3 mpg increase and it nets you about 20 hp and 20 lbft. torque over stock and cleans up the response and lag that the stock tune has.

Also the same block and rotating assembly as in the ecodiesel is used in several much higher performance applications putting out more power and torque. The 3L displacement is not limiting it to what it is. On the other hand if... and that's a big IF I could get something in the 4-5 liter range that could deliver more umph and still get the same economy I would jump on it, but seems like Nissan tried that and its not working. Ram supposedly was offered the 5.0 cummins and turned it down due to fuel consumption, or so I have heard rumors.

Even a 4.0l capable of 20mpg would open up a lot of commercial use. I just don't envision the 3.0l in a 3/4 or 1 ton truck. Maybe delivery vans.

There is a man on the ecodiesel forum that uses his 2014 as a commercial driver delivering travel trailers in the 6-8,000 lb range. He has almost 260k miles on his.

Regular maintenance and the only repairs have been a light switch and the high pressure fuel pump. He claims the fuel pump is on him because he ran it out of fuel and it died shortly after.

If my ecodiesel bombs on me or when its shot and wore out my plan is to find a cummins 4bt and swap it into a light duty 3/4 ton have some of the perks and no emissions.

Supposedly the same 3.0l used in Land Rover's lineup now so power and torque numbers should be pretty similar to that if you wanted to speculate.
