No, actually it was at the Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens while I took the family there.

I ride the trail around WRL and there are some huge Koi, Buff, Carp that swim on the ledge near the spillway. Always stop to look at them and the huge turtles. Just wish I could figure out how to catchem. If i chummed the area with corn, would they eat a piece under a bobber?

Don't worry about the mule, just load the cart

I'm sure corn would work great. I was using a hot pink kebari style fly with white feathers.

A TPWD bred koi?

I can see some of the signs that it may have come from a group that were once kept at Heart of the Hills in Kerrville. I gave TPWD several thousand koi many years ago when I was breeding high grade koi from Japan. They were looking for genetic diversity as their koi stock had been inbred for nearly 50 years.

They breed koi, goldfish and koi/goldfish hybrids as a food source for captive largemouth bass breeding stock.

Catching a koi on a fishing pole is quite the accomplishment, they are extremely smart and wary, seldom taken by hook and line, even where a lot of fishing is going on around them. Nice catch indeed!
