A tremendous amount of information can be extracted from catching, tagging and releasing such large and rare animals. Especially if any are recaptured. I know that gathering a lot of data is a big job, just curious how much information is going to be gathered, recorded and studied with respect to this project. Its interesting to see so much effort put forth with respect to conserving AND making available to the public such a valuable and important resource. Not to mention the investment in the future of sportfishing by bringing the next generation along.
Imagine a world where such a fish as the alligator gar, about as magnificent an animal as is or has ever been on Earth, got the attention and funding put into something as dimunitive and difficult to manage as the largemouth bass.....
At any rate I applaud and support the effort, hoping that the "return" isn't only in the form of personal satisfaction, but comes in the from of a few bucks now and again.
Is any of this information going to be shared, here? with the state or feds? in a book or video?
I got me a pet gar about that big and it scares the beejeebers outa me and my crew when we have to move it, you ain't afraid of getting bit?
