It is a cold freshwater fish in the Cod family...and sort of like a catfish, but not really.
I've read folks refer to it as tasting like "poor man's lobster".
I'm heading up to Canada soon and want to try catching it.

Does anyone here know how?

Most are caught ice fishing with dead or live minnows after dark. Quite a bit of them in Quebec, but the giants are in the prairie provinces.

I've never targeted them, but caught a small one in a deep walleye lake about 250 miles North of Montreal. Was drifting a worms along with a bottom bouncer at 50 feet or so across a bay during a heat wave when it hit. Guess it was trying to stay cool.
