That's not what happened. Took the wife to Squaw Creek but we left the boat at home because from what I'd heard you can catch tilapia from the bank just as easy. We didn't do well but she was happy about her catch. The game warden said nobody in boats or on the bank had caught any in several days because of the water coming in. It was a good experience and I will try again.

Nice! I have wondered about fishing for them. What baits will they hit on?

I had worms, corn, dough bait but caught em on worms and everyone there said only use worms. Apparently when they bite you catch dozens and when they don't you don't catch any at all. The warden said she seen three caught all day yesterday.

Love catching em! Great fighters on ultra light tackle! Side Note: Also very good eating!

When it's said it can't be done, you just have to do it and post it.

Those are beautiful fish. I had never seen a tilapia. How widespread are they in Texas? Also, how do they take heat and cold. Some friends fish for them occasionally in tanks here around Waco. They said tilapia don't reproduce here and die out over summer. I don't have a clue and would appreciate information.
Thanks!!
Ray

I was there last Saturday and had similar results. We fished numerous coves that normally produce lots of Talipia. We ended the day with a measly 7 Talipia. We could see fish but they had lockjaw. All fish that did bite were caught on worms. They appear to have already spawned. Catfish were biting much better up the river.
