I keep seeing gar in a creek and I have cut up pearch and put them on a hook and they just swim past it. Some one tell me how to catch gar and carp please

The best way that have done it get some nylon string and frizzle it out like a top water jig. They will get it tangled in their teeth and cant get it undone. Worked lots of times for us.
